Superb hardwood trees on the brink of extinction
Few people know that there are ca. 40 superb quality hardwood species in the Philippines and even more sub species. Due to the desired and super durable quality of the wood, almost all of these formerly abundant species are now either critically endangered or endangeres, on the brink of extinction.
We cannot let this happen. Please join me in common effort to save all these wonderful trees from extinction.
On the day of publishing my book, I was missing one major part on truly sustainable construction: the construction material!
Now it is here, the tropical hardwood species that can withstand the test of time and any weathering the tropical climate can throw on them! Termites and other insects cannot touch many of these woods even without any additional treatmet.
We can now build truly sustainable houses and other construction with these hardwoods. Wholly renewable natural material that absorbs huge amounts of greenhouse gases in the growing period and the carbon is bound for 100 years when used for construction materials. Many of these are also nitrogen fixing and ideal for reforestration even in depleted soils.
It is not only in the Philippines where we need to do this, but in Brazil especially. Some people might recognize the name of Lignum Vitae. We need to protect these wonderful trees and establish worldwide mother tree seed resorvoirs and conituous growth sustainable multi-culture plantations for sertified wood supply.
If you can help me in any way to accomplish this, please join my efforts! Thanks.
